I wrote to many an author. Irish and not. But the only reply I got was from Sarah Webb. This is what she said:
Hi Zoe,
I'm so glad you like Amy Green. Kerry is great - I was there 2 weeks ago - Tralee to do some library book events.
I love Clover too - she's so much fun and quite fearless. And Amy is a sweetie too. I also enjoy writing about Seth and Mills, although Mills does get a bit girlie sometimes! Wait till you read book 4 - she goes a bit bonkers over a guy!!!
I like writing about Irish girls as they are so cool and interesting, and I like the fact that girls in American and Poland and England are reading about Irish girls!
Routines - I write every day - mostly till about 2 - then I do the school run and do emails etc.
How did I become a writer? I was bookseller for years and then I decided to write my own book - Kids Can Cook - now I've done lots of books! Was it easy? No! It took ages to get that book published. A career? I became a full time writer 8 years ago - and I've loved every minute of it. But I do other things too - book reviewing, school visits, talking at festivals etc. Being a writer is a brilliant job and I love it. The best bit - meeting and getting emails from readers!
Thanks for your email, Zoe.
Best, Sarah X
How nice was that. I'm definitely going to read some more of her books and I will tell you when I do!
Three cheers for Sarah Webb!
